Vault 101 UE5 Reimagining

I worked on this project for about 2 months in my third year at Sheffield Hallam University, it is by far the most work I have undertaken in a single project to date. I created over 30 assets and decals complete with textures, some of which created from scratch using Substance designer.

It was a really fun project to work on as it's based on Fallout 3, a game I loved when I was younger and has a special place in my heart. My idea for this reimagining was to try to merge the aesthetic styles of Bethesda's Fallout games with that of the original Fallout developers, Interplay.

This was my first time using UE5 and it's new features like nanite were a joy to work with. I saw the benefit almost immediately with the need for baking details from high poly meshes no longer really being an issue, allowing me to utilise a mid-poly workflow that really improved the quality of my assets and the speed at which they could be created and deployed within UE5.
The project as a whole has resulted in a massive improvement in my overall comprehension inside the programs used and I have established a production pipe-line that should really benefit me in projects going forward.

I made use of some themed assets from Sketchfab, the full list of these items can be found here: https://t.ly/NDmG
In an attempt to pay the community back somewhat I also uploaded my first aid kit model there under the same free licenses the other creators did. I may do this with some of the other assets I made in future.

I also made use of Megascans for the concrete decals and UE packs that I own for some of the clutter but the bulk of the assets in the scene are my own.
